With the support of verase, the Co-Laborativo platform was developed and implemented as a pedagogical tool aimed at developing the personal, professional, and community skills of the young people and adolescents within the Youth Build Program network. The platform was designed based on a participatory methodology, placing young people at the center of the entire process and aiming, both as a means and as an end, to promote responsible and dialogical education in light of the challenges and contexts of youth.

Project Context
The Youth Build Program — a social technology implemented in Brazil by the Health Promotion Center (CEDAPS) — aims to support young people in vulnerable situations by giving visibility to their challenges, strengthening their socio-emotional skills, and creating social and economic opportunities.
The COVID-19 pandemic further highlighted social inequalities and the challenges faced by youth, especially in the favelas and peripheral communities of Rio de Janeiro. In this scenario, the relationship between young people and formal education took on an alarming dimension, reflected in the high dropout rates — a problem that had been emerging long before the pandemic, in a weakened educational system unable to bridge the gaps imposed by inequalities.
In response to this, CEDAPS recognized the urgency of intensifying its efforts to create opportunities for continuous and quality learning for this network of young people, whose rights had been compromised and who found themselves even more distant from educational and job opportunities.
To address this challenge, a core group of young people and adolescents from the Youth Build Program network was formed. They gathered in a series of co-creation workshops over ten months, facilitated by verase.
Main actions:
- Gathering perceptions and debating the current educational landscape.
- Strengthening relationships between young people, their peers, educators, and families as a key factor in learning.
- Identifying means and strategies used or desired by young people to enhance their learning and explore topics of interest.
- Designing the educational content and consolidating a learning experience, culminating in the implementation of the platform.
